Having Trouble with Scholars?

No better place to find hidden gems than HGC.

How does it work?

How do students get certified and verified here?

  • Students who successfully complete one of our rigorous courses with a 100% passing grade are manually verified through #🎓student-verification by our moderators/staff by looking at their certificates and cross referencing their Discord ID on our website.
  • Verified students are then assigned the @Certified Student role to have access to our #📃application-interviews to start their first round of interviews/screening.

How do you hire scholars here?

  1. The left sidebar of the Discord server has a category called "── INTERVIEW READY Ξ" will show every applicant that has passed our first round of interviews and ronin background checks.
  2. Click on a channel and ping @ the applicant to interview them in their specific channel. DM is allowed but please note in the channel you are DMing them so other managers know.
  3. If you already have your own application process in place, please upgrade to the @Manager - Read/Write/Announce role to post links to your form or server in #📌scholarship-bulletin and any channels you'd like.

What do you do after you hire them?

  1. Once you decide to hire a scholar and they accepted your terms, you can press the "Hire Scholar" button that is pinned in the student's interview channel.
  2. It will close out the ticket and put them under the "── HIRED Ξ" category.
  3. An HGC Staff/Mod will update their roles and nickname accordingly as well to prevent them from being hired elsewhere.

RULES & MANNERS:

Sometimes it can get competitive to hire the best students here. There are many of us here and was the main reason we had to start charging a small fee to limit the number of managers entering HGC. With that said, we are making great efforts to promote the course and get more certified students in here so that finding new scholars will not be an issue. However, we need some rules to cover below. It will be case by case, but please report any offenders to @HGC Staff.

  • It is a free market, but managers are not allowed to "poach, steal, or recruit" another manager's scholar without notifying that manager first. You do not need permission, but you MUST notify them your intentions.
  • However, managers are NOT allowed to **regularly** recruit other scholars under other managers in the server as their strategy. This will result in a ban and is not healthy for the community.
  • When another manager is interviewing a student, no managers are allowed to suddenly click the "hire scholar" button and profit off of the other manager's efforts. You must be a part of the conversation or interview process.

More interviewing/hiring rules and manners:

  • More than 1 manager is expected to be interviewing an applicant at a time, like the real world.
  • Please communicate if you decide to DM the applicant, and update in the channel if you're done.
  • The applicant must first accept your scholarship offer before you can press the hire scholar button.

I know we all like private DMs, but the more we collaborate and do things transparently, the less time we'll waste and can move on to the next qualified applicant.

As many of you know, finding high quality scholars is becoming more and more difficult everyday. HGC's process has systematically reduced the time spent on recruitment, education, and verification. Managers who have been with us since the beginning have repeatedly said their HGC scholars have consistently far outperformed their other scholars. Many have promoted their HGC scholars to becoming co-managers and more. With that said, this is a very manual and time consuming process, so we ask managers to pay a small ($5 minimum) share towards the overhead and management of HGC's resources.

HGC is truly a hidden gem! Since I started recruiting scholars here, everything became easier. HGC courses are very well developed and structured, so I can trust that certified scholars do know what they are doing, even if the have little o no experience playing Axie. The Managers community is a strong one, with honesty and ethic above all. Before Katana was launched, I did various SLP/EHT swaps with other managers and its so nice to be in a trustful environment. I would definitely recommend HGC to anyone getting into the Axie space.. It would make your journey much easiear, enjoyable and profitable!

I think that your prices are honestly too cheap and you can definitely charge more for this service. I just did an experiment where I got 5 new scholars from the general axie discord, and I put them in their own server and gave them 2 weeks (they are at one week so far) to see how well they did. I gave them teams that my scholars have easily held above 1500 mmr with (some have hit near 2k with them). 3/5 of the scholars dipped below 800 at some points and the other 2 never stayed above 1200. From this I've found that either you must find good scholars to recruit, or invest money or time into coaching. Either way, this discord is the perfect way to find scholars that have knowledge and want to play. With the update where you don't even get any slp when under 800, it is throwing money away and way too risky to recruit from general chats like the axie infinity discord or probably also some of those facebook groups.

For me , the reason I like to get scholars here is because I know they have at least made some kind of effort to show that they will work hard prior to hiring them. It is not a guarantee that they are an honest person, but it is a greatly increased chance that the scholar isn't lazy, and an increased chance that they actually know something about the game.

We are a small scholarship where all my scholars were all my personal friends or friends of friends. When we finally decided to expand my scholarship program to the public, we recruited from both the official Axie discord and in HGC discord. - Through the 'test' questions we ask during the interview, we found the quality/game knowledge of the applicants from HGC was almost always higher, so much so that we now use the HGC course certificate sort of a 'proof of quality'. - All the applicants with red flags (blocks us after we ask for more details, not showing up for the interviews, ghosts us halfway) were applicants found outside of HGC. The thorough screening that the team at HGC does gives us some peace of mind that the applicants we find there are trustworthy.
